Chris currently holds the rank of Shidan 4th Degree Black Belt in Ju-Jutsu, Hutton-Ryu, Japanese Freestyle Karate, Hutton-Ryu-Jitsu, Cain Ryu Bujutsu and American Fudoshin Bujutsu. In 1989 he started to learn Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate under Robert A. Bowls. Seven years later he continued his training under Dr.Hutton. In 2003 he was honored at the 6th W.M.A.L. "International Martial Arts Awards", which was held in cooperation with the 1st Hutton-Ryu Worldwide Martial Arts Hall of Fame, with the "Protection Award of Honor", Black Belt of the Year Award in 2004, and Competitor of the Year Award in 2006. This year Chris will be inducted once again into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame as MMA Competitor of the Year
